As the owner and founder of LASH ME Eyelash Extensions, Katrina prides herself on providing a professional, quality service at an affordable price, believing that each client deserves the opening night treatment and as such, ensures a full consultation to cover any client concerns, desired look and education on their new lashes before the procedure even begins.  Katrina has been having eyelash extension applied to her own eyes for nearly four years, originally in Sydney, but also on the Gold Coast and Brisbane, it was the difficulty Katrina had in finding a quality eyelash technician upon moving from Sydney that prompted her to start LASH ME.

2012 - Year of the Dragon's lash?

2012 is proving to be a very busy and exciting year for LASH ME with changes, improvements and new additions aplenty!

2012 - Year of the Dragon's lash??

NEW LOCATION
We're so pleased to announce that LASH ME Eyelash Extensions opened it's first interstate salon on Tuesday the 13th of March at 6 Inkerman Street, St  Kilda.  The salon, which has been open for two weeks now is developing an incredible following, this can be attributed to the unique offering of reasonably price mink fur extensions to the Melbourne market, convenient location, quality product and incredibly talented lash extension technicians and brow artists.

CENTRALISED BOOKING LINE
You can book into any one of our four salons, across two states by calling just one number, 1300 LASH ME (527 463) and best of all, Tuesday to Friday, we have a dedicated receptionist available to take and return your calls.

NO MORE ACRYLIC
You read correctly, we have decided to ditch synthetic lashes... While acrylic lashes can be dramatic, gorgeous and glamourous for big events, continued use causes serious damage to your natural lashes, so we have decided that moving forward we can no longer offer a product that we wouldn't have applied to our own eyes.

Mink fur causes minimal damage due to the light weight nature of the fibre while mimicking the movement of your natural lashes... 95% of our clients have mink fur applied and they are more commonly complimented on how long their natural lashes are, NOT asked where they have their extensions applied.

We have a special offer to compliment this announcment, details below

Current acrylic clients
We will remove your acrylics and replace them for the price of an infil at your next appointment! $200 value for $75!!

Currently wearing NON-LASH ME Acrylics
Book in with LASH ME and we will remove your acrylics and replace them with a full set of mink fur for $100! valued at $200

EVERYONE/ANYONE/NEW CLIENTS/OLD CLIENTS
Mention this announcement and we will apply a full set of mink fur lashes valued at $170 for the price of acrylics! Just $130!!

all offers valid until April 30th, call 1300 LASH ME to book ♥

OUR TEAM
We have welcomed four new staff, welcomed one back to the team and said goodbye to two special ladies (one just temporarily).

Amanda, who left us at the end of 2011 decided to come back and join us for a few months to get our new St Kilda salon up and running.  We're so pleased to have her talented tweezers back on board, welcome back Mana.  Taryn has joined our team to fill the void left by Amanda (see above) at the end of last year and joins Hannah over in our Paddington salon.

Lucinda has left us for a few months to go and have her bouncing baby boy, but is looking forward to rejoining us in 4-6 months... look out for the pictures of the new baby on our fan page (www.facebook.com/lashmefanpage).  Michelle has joined our team to replace Lucinda (but we're not letting her get away after Lucinda's maternity leave, because she's awesome).  Michelle is a hairdresser who is currently studying psychology and thought she's practise on clients ... lol.. kidding!  kinda ;-)

And finally our new full time Receptionist, Angela, who was unfortuantely caught in the recent collapse of Air Australia, has come on board to replace Rebecca who has decided to chase her passion for photography, however she is still on hand to make sure we have beautiful images for our website.

We're not ever three months into the year and already so much has happened, imagine what we're going to have achieved by 2013... Look out world!!!!

Calling all Mascara lovers

Not sure about eyelash extensions, but not getting enough impact from your monthly eyelash tint?

Find that Australia's humid climate drives your mascara half way down your face by lunch time?

Cry Baby, the original semi permanent mascara could be the answer to all of your prayers.  Cry Baby Semi-Permanent Mascara is a procedure that curls and coats lashes with Cry Baby's proprietary lash coating. This coating adds volume, length, curl and color to lashes, is 100% waterproof/ smear-proof and lasts two weeks, often longer. It’s ideal for active lifestyles as well as special events like weddings and vacations. Better still, it’s professionally applied by our technicians in as little as half an hour, even less if we're just coating the bottom lashes to compliment your eyelash extensions.

LASH ME specialise in eyes, and as one of the first to be offering this amazing product in Australia, we've taken our commitment to your eye health one step further than other local salons by ensuring that we have two lashettes certified in the application of Cry Baby Mascara in each of our salons.  You can rest assured that you are in good hands when you book in for this exciting new service with LASH ME Eyelash Extensions.

How long will CryBaby Mascara last?

With proper care, CryBaby Mascara will last 2 weeks or longer. For one-time special occasions, CryBaby will slowly wear off the natural lash over a 2 to 3 week period.

How thick will CryBaby Mascara make lashes?

Typically CryBaby Mascara will thicken natural lashes 30 to 50%. It is designed to make lashes thicker, fuller, and longer like mascara, but it is also water-proof, smear-proof and lasts much longer.

How long will CryBaby Mascara make lashes?

On average, CryBaby Mascara can make lashes look 20% to 50% longer.

How is CryBaby Mascara maintained?

Although some people get CryBaby Mascara for a special occasion or vacation, most love the look so much that they chose to maintain it. Reapplication on a two week basis keeps the lashes looking fresh and new.

How soon before an event should CryBaby Mascara be applied?

CryBaby Mascara can be applied the day of a special event; however, we suggest having it applied 4 hours prior. This ensures accurate curing time for the mascara and the freshest possible look for the lashes.

Can regular Mascara be used over CryBaby Mascara?

Regular mascara will not need to be used with CryBaby Mascara. As CryBaby wears off, washable mascara can be worn. Petroleum based mascaras can break down CryBaby and shorten its life. Mascara used with CryBaby should be water-washable; although after several applications over CryBaby, it can get thick, clumpy and dull. CryBaby Nutritional Volume Mascara is the best bet.

Can regular cleanser be used to remove make up?

Because cleansers are usually very emollient, we don’t recommend them for the eyelashes. Instead we recommend an oil free makeup remover. Keeping eyes clean is essential. Face and eye area should be washed and cleaned daily. Eye creams and moisturizers for the skin are fine, but keep them off lashes.

Can CryBaby Mascara pull natural eyelashes off?

No. Eyelashes should not be picked, pulled, or rubbed. Gently blot them dry after a shower or swim. An eyelash may come off if treated roughly. Treat lashes with respect and be gentle with them. The gentler CryBaby Mascara is treated, the longer it will last. If picking or pulling is a problem for a client, we do not recommend CryBaby Mascara.

How will sleeping affect CryBaby lashes?

CryBaby is very flexible, so if lashes get misshapen during sleep, warm water or a shower will bounce them back into shape. Sleeping with a pillow or blanket over the head may affect the longevity of CryBaby Mascara. Side sleepers may notice that the eye on the side they sleep on wears a little more than the other side.

If you have further questions, would like to book in for this new service or add it on to your current scheduled appointment, check out the Cry Baby website www.crybabymascara.com or call your local salon to speak with one of our qualified therapists.

Asking the right questions

After an amazing weekend at the Queensland Brides Wedding Expo, it became clear to us at LASH ME that ladies still have a LOT of unanswered questions about eyelash extensions, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to put together a list of the most commonly asked questions from the weekend...

1. Do we apply the extensions ourselves?

Definitely not, not even our most talented technicians can apply their own lashes, we maticulously apply your lashes strand by strand with a medical grade adhesive in the comfort of our beauty salons.

2.  Does it hurt?

It takes approx an hour to apply a full set of extensions and is such a relaxing experience that a lot of our clients drift off to sleep, you should not experience any pain at all.  If the glue being used to apply your extensions is not of the highest, professional quality, you can experience an uncomfortable stinging sensation.  LASH ME use the highest quality adhesives available and ensure that it's completely dry before you open your eyes to avoid irrittion.

3. What are the lashes made from?

We specialise in MINK FUR eyelash extensions (not to be confused with the faux mink being peddled as 'mink' by some salons).  Our mink fur fibres are ethically brushed from the coat of siberian minks during their biannual shedding and additional fibres are shaved from their tails.  The fibres are then hygenically treated, dyed and permed to turn them into the most lightweight, safest fibre to use on your delicate eye area

4. How long do they last?

Our lashes last 4-6 weeks, however when the addiction kicks in we suggest infilling your gorgeous set of lashes every 3-4 weeks to maintain the fullness.

5. Don't they damage your natural lashes!?!

Traditional lash extensions (acrylic, silk, faux mink) certainly have an impact on the quality of your natural lashes, however the lightweight nature of mink fur ensures there is no adverse effect on your natural lashes, even with continued use.

6. Can I still wear mascara?

Short answer is, you shouldn't have to, but if you do want to wear mascara for that special occassion, we suggest you simply coat the tips and then remove the mascara with an oil free make up remover to ensure minimal damage to your extensions.

We use a mink fur fibre, as mentioned above, it is really important to think of your lash health when booking in your extensions, so if you can't get in to one of our LASH ME salons to experience the best lashes in Brisbane, make sure you ask the following questions:

1. Do you have a dedicated eyelash extension specialist on your staff?
2. How long has she/he been doing eyelash extensions?
3. Does your glue contain phemaldehyde?  (you want to hear  definite 'no' to this question)
4. Do you stock lashes in a range of sizes so I can choose the look I'm after?
5. What type of lashes do you use?
6. (if the response to 5 is mink) do you use genuine mink fur or faux mink (which is essentially acrylic fashioned to look like mink fur)?
7. If i have a reaction to my lashes, do you have the products available to remove my lashes?

Once you've found a good eyelash technician, you'll know, because you will LOVE your lashes, free from any irritation and most importantly you will be complemented on your gorgeous long eyelashes, not asked where you get your extensions applied...

lashing you with regards

kat x

Goodbye Wooloowin, hello Paddington!!!

Nearly 12 months ago LASH ME ventured a little further from our first salon to offer Wooloowin residents our services and found that we were booked solid for weeks in advance.  The fact that we were so very busy each Monday, told us that it was time to open a full time salon a little closer to the city... so after searching the inner city suburbs we have found a gorgeous location at Paddington Central on Latrobe Terrace.

The new location offers the convenience of FREE parking with the style and surround of gorgeous Paddington.  Our new Paddington Salon will be managed by our uber talented Lash Technician Karleen and will cater to the working woman with extra 'after hours' appointments available.

We do hope our Wooloowin clients will bear with us while we are making the move from Wooloowin to Paddington and trust that you will enjoy the convenience and comfort of our new Brisbane salon, just 3km from the city at Paddington.  To make enquiries or book in advance, please call our North Lakes Salon on 3481 2733.

How do I maintain my tan?

  1. Keep yourself dry and avoid excessive perspiration (great excuse for missing the gym) until you shower the solution off
  2. You will not see a lot of colour when you shower, all of our solutions have a short wear time and can be rinsed off after 2 hours.  When you rinse the tan off, try and keep the shower short and the water tepid.  Do not use soap/body wash during this initial shower (or moisturiser after) as the tan continues to process for the next 8 hours.
  3. Have your shower as normal that night/the next morning using soap/body wash.
  4. MOISTURISE!!  It is so very important that you moisturise daily, this ensures that your tan does not wear off in a flaky or patchy manner and keeps the colour fresher for longer.
  1. Exfoliate your skin before your spray tan, paying close attention to areas of rought skin around your knees, ankles and elbows
  2. Try to avoid the application of moisturiser, deodorant, perfume or make up before your appointment
  3. Bring dark, loose fitting clothes to wear home from your appointment, avoiding socks, enclosed shoes and fitting waist bands and shoulder straps

How long will my tan last?

Your tan will last between 5-10 days, this can vary from person to person and is aided by regular moisturising.

I don't want to be orange!?!

We hear this every day, ladies who have had a bad spray tanning experience or have seen the results of a spray tanning disaster often fear walking out a glowing orange colour.  We have done our research and through trial and error we now stock a range of spray tan solutions to suit all skin types, none of them with even a hint of orange ;-)

Cheveux

Just when we thought that it could not possibly get better than mink fur extensions, our research team has come up with a lash fibre that has all of the benefits of mink (light weight, natural looking, mimics the natural lash), except cheveux has an incredible curl that does not relax between infils.

Cheveux is 100% Korean human head hair, available from 6mm-14mm and permed in a C and D curl, this allows us to design your lashes to suit your exact specifications... more curl, we can do that!  more length... not a problem!  More thickness, we've got you covered!
